Alumni Lecture and Banquet.  The Alumni Lecture is usually held in April on campus in the Chemistry Department, followed by an awards dinner in the evening.  At dinner, the Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented, as well as several other awards recognizing faculty, undergraduate and graduate student accomplishments for the year.  The 2024 Lecture and Awards Dinner will be held on Friday, April 26. Chemistry Department Golf Scramble.  Held annually at the UGA Golf Course, this event includes alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the Chemistry Department.  It uses a four-person team format.  Prizes are awarded for the top two lowest scoring teams, the putting contest winner, and for the longest drive and closest-to -the-pin on one of the par three holes.  The golf is followed by a barbecue at the UGA Golf Course Club House.  The golf scramble is usually held on the Saturday following the spring alumni/awards banquet.  The 2024 Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, May 4. Chemistry Alumni Activities

A variety of activities throughout the year bring Chemistry faculty, students and staff together with alumni.  The calendar of events and their schedule is given below.  Alumni are invited to join in these activities whenever possible.  If you are visiting the Athens area and have the time, please stop by to see us.  We can arrange informal visits to the department on short notice whenever necessary.  To arrange a visit, please contact Ms. Donna Spotts (706-542-1919; donna.spotts@uga.edu).

Chemistry Newsletter.  Published once a year and distributed to all present and former students, postdocs, faculty and staff.  If you are not receiving this, please write us (head@chem.uga.edu) to update your mailing address.
