WELCOME

The Department at the University of Georgia offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry. Our undergraduates have the option of obtaining an ACS-certified B.S. in Chemistry. We graduate around 40 B.S. Chemists each year. Our graduate degree program is a research-intensive program with an emphasis on course
work required for in-depth training in a particular project. We also emphasize interdisciplinary training to prepare our graduates for multiple career paths. Through our links, you can find out about both our undergraduate and graduate programs, how to apply for admission, the curricula offered, and the research interests of our faculty.
Majors & Minor
Chemistry is a foundational science for many programs and majors at UGA. We also offer two tracks for an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. Our BSChem in Chemistry is designed for the student who intends to become a professional chemist. Our BS in Chemistry is designed for the student who intends to major in chemistry but may wish to pursue a career in some other science-related field, including the health sciences, business, and the legal profession.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
The Chemistry Department is now accepting applications for Chemistry Learning Assistants (CLAs) for the Spring 2024 semester. CLAs are the individuals who rotate during recitation sessions and help answer student questions. CLAs also perform a variety of other activities which include executing exam review sessions, holding office hours, creating supplementary study resources, and creating short content videos.
