The UGA Department of Chemistry will add three new lecturers to the teaching faculty in Fall 2022. Two of the lecturers are familiar faces, having taught General Chemistry at UGA for several years, while the third is a newcomer to Athens. Eman Abdelrahman will receive her Ph.D. from UGA in inorganic chemistry in August. She has been teaching in the General Chemistry program for the past three years and excited to continue teaching. Eman is a pharmacist by training; however, she decided to pursue her true love, which is chemistry. Her cat, Tate, has been her faithful companion while she studied. She is also fluent in three languages. Matthew Seivert will receive his Ph.D. from UGA in inorganic chemistry in August and has also been teaching in the General Chemistry program for the past three years. He looks forward to continue teaching in this program. Matt enjoys connecting with students by telling stories about his own experiences in general chemistry. In his free time, Matt enjoys building Lego sets based on his favorite TV shows. He is also looking forward to adopting a puppy. Elliot Taffet received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2019. Elliot lived in Belgium while completing his Ph.D. in computational chemistry after receiving support from the Belgian American Educational Foundation. He enjoys listening to French pop music, so we may hear something new as we walk by his office. We welcome the new lecturers and look forward to their addition to the department!
