The University of Georgia dedicated its 122,500-square-foot Science Learning Center Aug. 17. An estimated 10,000-12,000 students will utilize the building each day for classes in chemistry, biology, physics, ecology, math, computer science and genetics.

Four graduate students in the Department of Chemistry have been recognized for their outstanding contributions as teaching assistants – Benjamin Cline, Rupa Gokal, Hunter Hickox, and Roshini Ramachandran.

Jin Xie, an assistant professor in the department of chemistry in the University of Georgia Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Program.

The University of Georgia is a partner in a new national public-private consortium to revolutionize the fiber and textiles industry through commercialization of highly functional, advanced fibers and textiles for the defense and commercial markets.

Sarah Elliott, a graduate student in the UGA chemistry department, was awarded the Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF).  Sarah is currently a first year student working under the direction of Professor Henry F.
